Description

This competence-based qualification covers the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required to install water services on the distribution network.  The qualification covers the technical network construction skills required for a service layer, including health, safety and hygiene, and also includes requirements relating to working effectively and maintaining effective working relationships.  Learners must produce workplace evidence to show that they can meet the assessment requirements consistently over time. 

Intended For

This level 2 qualification is perfect for those who are working in network construction and have developed some knowledge and skills, usually from a role where they’ve been supervised.

Aims & Objectives

For a full Level 2 Network Construction Operations (Gas) – Service Layer, the learner must complete all of the mandatory units from either the Self-Lay or the Distribution Pathway. Nine mandatory units are required for the Self-Lay Pathway, and there are ten mandatory units in the Distribution Pathway.  For more information on the aims and objectives of both pathways, please contact Quinn’s Training Services.  

Prerequisites

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.  However, as there is a requirement for learners to provide evidence from workplace activities, the learner must be working in the water industry and undertaking service laying activities on a regular basis. 

Mode for Delivery

Assessment for the Level 2 Certificate in Network Construction Operations (Gas) – Service Layer is conducted using a portfolio of evidence. 

The majority of learners’ evidence for the qualification must be generated from real work activities, and learners must be working in the water industry and undertaking service laying activities on a regular basis.
