The Highfield Level 1 Award in the Principles of Health and Safety within the Workplace course is specifically designed to meet the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for training.  It is specifically designed to give learners an understanding of the main responsibilities of employers and employees with regards to health and safety.

Learning Outcomes

The Highfield Level 1 Award in the Principles of Health and Safety course consists of two main areas of learning:

  • Understand Main Responsibilities of Health and Safety in the Workplace

  • Understand How the Workplace Can Affect Health and Safety

Aims & Objectives

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • State the main responsibilities of employers and employees in health and safety.

  • Identify common hazards in a typical workplace

  • Identify controls measures for common hazards

  • Identify the types of Personal Protective Equipment

  • Identify the different types of health and safety signage

Mode for Delivery

The course is delivered by one of our fully qualified, Highfield approved tutors, who use a variety of theoretical and practical input, including

  • Videos and information booklets

  • Group and partner work

  • Whole group discussion

Assessment of the learning outcomes is completed through a thirty- minute multiple-choice question examination which is taken at the end of the course.

There are no pre-course requirements for this course.

Onsite Delivery Requirements

A classroom environment with a table and chair for each delegate, power, a clear wall or screen for presenting and suitable welfare facilities.
