New Training Opportunity at Quinns Training Services

At Quinns Training Services, we are always looking for ways to provide the most up-to-date, relevant, and high-quality training opportunities for our clients. That’s why we are excited to announce that we will soon be offering the EUSR Products for Drinking Water Scheme—a new course developed in collaboration with water companies and set to raise awareness of key water quality regulations.
This training is essential for anyone working with or involved in any aspect of clean drinking water, whether on-site or in the development, supply, or procurement of products used in public water systems. If you work in the water industry, this course will become a vital addition to your professional qualifications. Let’s dive into what this course is all about and why it’s so important.
What Is the Products for Drinking Water Scheme?

The Products for Drinking Water Scheme is a new initiative from the EUSR (Energy and Utilities Skills Register) designed to raise awareness of two crucial regulations: Regulation 31 (in England and Wales) and Regulation 33 (in Scotland and Northern Ireland). These regulations ensure that all products and substances used in water systems meet rigorous quality standards, protecting the safety and hygiene of drinking water.
Regulation 31 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 requires that any product or substance that comes into contact with drinking water must be approved prior to being introduced into a public water system—unless it conforms to an appropriate British Standard or equivalent standard that ensures performance and safety.
Similarly, Regulation 33, as part of the Public Water Supplies (Scotland) Regulations 2014, serves the same purpose for water systems in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The new EUSR scheme aims to ensure that professionals working in the water industry are fully aware of and compliant with these regulations.
Who Should Take the Course?
The course is designed for anyone working with clean drinking water, particularly those who work on the water network or are involved in developing, supplying, or procuring products used in public water systems. Whether you’re directly handling water systems or are responsible for selecting products that come into contact with drinking water, this training is essential.
How Does It Compare to National Water Hygiene?
At Quinns Training Services, we have extensive experience delivering National Water Hygiene training, which we have been providing for over 12 years. Much like National Water Hygiene, which touches on Regulations 31 and 33 and emphasises the importance of hygiene practices to prevent contamination, the new Products for Drinking Water Scheme will focus on the products and materials used in water systems. It will ensure that all delegates understand how to properly handle products to maintain the highest level of water quality.
However, the new EUSR course will go deeper into the regulations surrounding products that come into contact with drinking water, providing more specific knowledge on ensuring that only approved products are used in public water systems.

Why Is This Course Important?
Regulations 31 and 33 are crucial for maintaining the quality and safety of drinking water across the UK. Understanding and adhering to these regulations is vital for anyone involved in the water industry. As a result, this course will become a requirement for delegates’ certification cards, and completion will demonstrate a commitment to maintaining safety and quality in water systems.
By offering this new qualification, we are helping our clients stay compliant and equipped with the knowledge they need to perform their roles safely and effectively.
What to Expect from the Training
At Quinns, we’re already preparing our trainers to deliver this course. They are currently working hard to gain acceptance and certification for themselves so they can deliver this important training. Once complete, we will add this course to our comprehensive list of training programs, ensuring we can provide all the necessary qualifications for those in the water sector.
Our team of experts will guide delegates through the course material, ensuring that every individual understands their role in maintaining the quality of drinking water and adhering to key regulations.
The Future of the Water Industry – Why Now Is the Time to Get Certified
As regulations evolve, so too does the demand for highly skilled professionals who can meet these new standards. The EUSR Products for Drinking Water Scheme is an essential course for anyone working in the water industry, whether you’re an experienced professional or new to the sector. By gaining this certification, you’ll ensure your continued relevance in an ever-evolving industry and demonstrate your commitment to the highest standards of water quality and safety.
